"Zeekoevlei is a major freshwater lake on the Cape Flats near Cape Town, Western Cape Province, South Africa. The name means "hippopotamus marsh," with "vlei" being Afrikaans for "marsh", and "zeekoe" being Afrikaans for hippopotamus." Wikipedia...
With the rather densely populated suburbs of Grassy Park, Lotus River and Pelican Park on its borders, Zeekoevlei is the largest urban natural inland body of water in Cape Town.

On the 3rd of March 2012, the Recreation Centre was Launched.
A Bring and Braai took place to celebrate the renovated community recreation centre.

On the 20th November 2014, the community helped to refurbish the Zeekoevlei Recreation Club in Peninsula Road as well as the maintenance of Van Bloemenstein Park. The tennis courts got re- fenced and the community helped with the perimeter fence donating their expertise, labour, equipment, and cleaning materials from their most successful fundraiser at the yacht club.
2015 kicked off with a new start... A Facebook page in the registered name Zeekoevlei Recreation Centre, was created and a new website was launched... The calendar used for bookings worked very well...

2016 and we are still going strong....... In December 2016 we will be painting and uplifting the club a little to greet 2017 with a brighter smile.
